Jorge Chavez
Jorge Luis Chavez is a first-generation Oklahoman. He has lived in South Oklahoma City since the age of four and has developed a deep connection to the thriving Hispanic community that makes it home there. He studied History and Public History at Oklahoma State University and has been involved in the museum community of Oklahoma City since the summer of 2019. Jorge currently works at the Oklahoma Hall of Fame | Gaylord-Pickens Museum as the Manager of Outreach Program. He works closely with schools, libraries, community centers, and various organizations across the state.
Jorge prides himself in fostering accessibility of education and opportunity in all that he does. Whether as a museum professional elevating previously unrepresented stories or as a multicultural fraternity alumnus engaging with schools and accompanying communities and advocating for higher education and continual growth, Jorge sees it all as working towards his goal of leaving the Earth a better place than when he arrived.
From weekly pick-up basketball to Sunday league indoor soccer, Jorge enjoys staying active with his friends and being part of a team. He is also a very amateur film photographer as he enjoys capturing special moments with his family and friends. It is an expensive hobby nowadays, but the memories captured are always priceless.
