Over the past decade, Thick Descriptions has brought people together through education, storytelling, steAm (STEM + Anthropology), community partnerships, and experiences that encourage us to better understand ourselves and one another. What began and continues to be a community-driven investment is now navigated with our vision and mission. As we celebrate this anniversary, we reflect with gratitude on the relationships we’ve built, the communities we’ve served, and the countless moments of learning and connection we’ve shared together. Why Your Financial Support is Needed/Impact

Thick Descriptions has a clear vision for our 2027 steAm initiative: to expand community impact and elevate organizational presence. The $100,000 goal is essential to the basics of our work: employ qualified and exceptional instructors to work in rural and metro areas of the state, create curriculum that reaches a variety of ages and abilities, and drive awareness through new media exposure, and partnerships. With your help, we can reach over 2,000 more individuals, building a larger, more engaged community dedicated to our mission. Proceeds from the 2026 Thick Descriptions Annual Soiree Fundraiser will directly fund 2027 steAm, supporting over 1,000 hours of teacher pay; it takes talented people to bring steAm to life. Your gift will help make that possible in 2027. Sponsors and attendees will directly support Oklahoma youth and their families to attain economic empowerment and access to better employment opportunities, increasing the workforce and furthering economic development in our state.
